About me

My main aim as your driving instructor is to train & develop you into a confident and competent driver who can then go on and pass the driving test. As the DSA's logo states - 'Safe Driving for Life' not just for your driving test!

I qualified as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) in May 2002 and began my career with the AA Driving School. After 18 months I decided to take the plunge and become an independent driving instructor and have never looked back.

I am a Pass Plus registered instructor and have completed a coaching course with David Collins Coaching Consultancy. The course was specifically designed for driving instructors and was the first of its kind in the UK. During the course we were taught various techniques to help control nerves, this being potentially useful for pupils at any stage of their training but especially in the lead up to and including their test. I am certified and accredited to the consultancy.

As a DSA requirement, I have undergone the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check in order to remain on the register for approved driving instructors. I am also bound by the DSA's professional code of conduct.

I have also signed up to the DSA's voluntary commitment to Continued Professional Development (CPD) showing my commitment to furthering myself professionally throughout my career as an ADI.

I am a member of the Pontefract Driving Instructor's Association (PDIA) and the Driving Instructor's Association (DIA), the largest association for instructors in the UK. All members have representation to the DSA, DVLA, DVA and Parliament, as well as other relevant bodies in the UK and abroad. All instructors have both Professional and Public Liability insurance cover worth £3m and £5m respectively.

Social life

On the social side I am a huge sports fan. I love football, enjoy playing cricket for my local team (Great Preston), watching rugby league, darts and playing the occasional round of golf.

My greatest interest though is my music and in particular rock music.

I also love walking, especially in the Lake District or Yorkshire Dales, and even more so if there is a pint of real ale at the end of it!
